THE CENACLE REVIEW

A Project by Anisa Daniel-Oniko

WE ARE: an online LITERARY MAGAZINE x ARTS COLLECTIVE seeking something of yours. More specifically: fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, and the audiovisual arts.

We BELIEVE: art is something God originates & humans copy. The cosmos represents to us an oeuvre. The sky is only the limit as far as it makes us want to create.

The word cenacle comes from ‘cena,’ a Latin word meaning dinner. Hence, cenacle has been extended to mean the upper room— the location of the Last Supper. We find this theologically and creatively inspiring—and not just because of its Hitchcockian implications. To us, what is more artistic than the brush between humanity and divinity? What is higher art than conversation?

SIMPLY PUT: we want you to go to table with us. Send us whatever work you want to show the world. Tell us about anything you like. Be SPIRITED (but not inflammatory), UNORTHODOX (but not blasphemous), IMPASSIONED (but not bigoted) and BOLD (no caveats).

The heavens are telling the glory of God;
and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours forth speech,
and night to night declares knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words;
their voice is not heard;
yet their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
— Psalm 19: 1-4, NRSVA
